AVATAR is an Autistic People’s Organisation (APO) run by and for autistic adults in the Scottish Borders.
We Believe: All autistic adults have the right to a good quality of life.
We aim: To empower autistic people to support each other and advocate for our rights so that we are able to thrive across every area of life.
AVATAR aims to improve the quality of life of autistic adults in the Scottish Borders by:
- Building a community of autistic people
- Providing accessible and practical support
- Community engagement activities to increase the understanding, acceptance and meaningful inclusion of autistic people

Become a member of AVATAR
AVATAR membership is free and gives you:
- The opportunity to attend AVATAR member-only events
- Access to our online peer support and social space (hosted on Discord)
- The right to vote at AVATAR’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) where major decisions about AVATAR’s future and governance are taken (e.g. electing trustees)
To become a member you must:
- Be aged 18 or over
- Live, work or attend education in the Scottish Borders
- Identify as autistic

Hire us!
While we always aim to keep services for our members free of charge, we also provide a range of training and consultancy services. If you would like us to come and deliver training on topics like autistic mental health or improving autistic quality of life or just want some help making your organisation more accessible to autistic people email us at avatarborders@gmail.com to discuss how we can help.
